The Home Project: Moving Fund & Goal Update

The big transfer from the auction proceeds just hit our savings account, and we are now so close to $2,000! How awesome is that? We are so incredibly grateful for everyone’s support through all of our various fundraisers so far, and I’m working on putting some new stuff together as well. I should have some news to announce on that front in the next few days. 🙂

After doing some research, it has become clear that we need to rent a room for a month in advance, rather than a week as we’d originally hoped. We’ve crunched numbers now that we’re better informed, and we need to raise at least $3,500 before we can get out of Chattanooga — at least another $1,000 before we can buy our 30-day advance purchase plane tickets. This will be enough to cover our first month’s rent in Seattle, transportation to Atlanta, a night at a hotel near the airport, plane tickets, shipping jewelry and art supplies ahead, food and other necessities while we get situated in our first week there, and $1,000 savings toward moving costs for transitioning into longer-term housing. We’d love to be able to gather more funds than that before leaving — and we hope that we do! — but this more realistic amount has become our bare minimum threshold.

We both feel very strongly that we need to make this happen by the end of August, so that we can be on our way by the end of September. We just can’t deal with being so sick and so afraid for our safety any longer.

After the success of the recent auction, I know that we can make this happen with your continued support!

I will be starting another series of raffles soon. I’m also working on details for a smaller auction mid-month and working out logistics for grab bags, to see if they’re a feasible option. I’ll be offering deals all month long. You might also consider purchasing a gift certificate for future use.

If you want to help but none of these options appeal to you, we are also happy to accept whatever payment you feel you’d like to offer in exchange for lighting candles on your behalf, with or without a prayer. If you decide to send a payment in exchange for a candle, 100% of that payment will be sent directly to our moving fund, minus any PayPal fees. At least 50% of all other funds coming in from sales and fundraising events is also being added directly to the fund, until we move — and probably beyond, since we will still be saving for a permanent home once we get there.

As I’ve said before, hubby and I are both incredibly grateful for all of the support that has come from the B&B family. Your words of encouragement, commiseration when we’ve been frustrated, your purchases and signal boosts have all truly meant the world to both of us. Without you, there would be no end in sight for our stay here, and I’m not sure that either of us could handle that right now. Thank you for giving us hope.

Sending so much love to our extended B&B family and wishing you all the brightest of blessings!

I’m so glad that you are getting the money together! The sooner you are out of there the better
