Auction Fundraiser Wrap-Up

Thank you!My big auction fundraiser for The Home Project ended a little over 24 hours ago. Before I continue, I’d like to take a moment to just thank each and every person who put energy — or their hard-earned cash — into supporting July’s fundraisers in any way, shape or form. Of course we need the actual funds to buy plane tickets and secure a place to stay when we arrive in Seattle, but to say that all of the moral support, signal boosts and goodwill that we have received from the B&B family has been heartwarming would be an understatement. We are honored and humbled that so many wonderful souls care so much about our wellbeing and happiness! Thank you so much for being a very special and deeply appreciated part of our lives.

Now that almost everything’s been paid for and I’ve had a chance to do the math, here’s how the numbers broke down…

  • There were 45 items available, and they all sold!
  • The auction grossed $831, an average of $18.47 per item.
  • 65% of the gross proceeds = $540.15, so we’re rounding up to $550.
  • Once these funds hit the savings account, we’ll have over $1,900 saved!

I would have loved to put everything from the auction straight into the moving fund, but we had to keep a portion for food, meds and operating costs for the business, as July was a super slow month and we were putting more than half of everything that came in from jewelry sales and fundraisers right into the moving fund. So that’s why we did things the way we did this time around. Hopefully things will pick up in August, and we’ll be on our way to Seattle in September!

Considering that many items were valued at $40-$50, lots of my bidders scored some pretty sweet deals! I’d like to think that it was very much a win/win situation, and I can’t wait to hear what all of my winners think of their new baubles once they arrive in the mail! If you’re bummed that you missed out on this one or had to go to bed early and didn’t win pieces you were bidding on, have no fear… I’m planning to do something similar at a future date. I’m just not sure exactly when that will be yet.
